
The Community Bicycle Network has seen first-hand that once people are introduced to cycling their activity increases exponentially. Through a series of workshops, activities and events, the Green Fleet program will demonstrate that cycling is a viable, even enjoyable, transportation alternative for commuters in the GTA.
The Green Fleet Program includes:
Lunch ‘n Learn Workshops such as:
• Workshop #1 - The One Tonne Challenge: How Cycling Makes a World of Difference
• Workshop #2 - Getting Started: The First Steps in Commuting by Bike
• Workshop #3 - Tool Time: The Basics on Tuning Up Your Bike & What To Look For When Buying A Bike
• Workshop #4 - Safe Cycling on the Streets: Wise Words from City of Toronto representatives
Bring Your Bike To Work Days:
• A fun way for as many people as possible to take the One Tonne Challenge and try commuting by bicycle. These days can be coordinated with other social activities.
• Green Fleet Mechanic on-site for advice & basic tune-ups
Green Fleet Week:
• A fleet of 22 Norco bicycles available to employees throughout the week for commuting, recreation & running errands
The Green Fleet Survey:
• A light-hearted look at personal transportation, surveying all employees at the beginning of the program to understand transportation habits and help measure success in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by the end of September.
Green Fleet Activity Calendar:
• A desktop calendar for all employees, including a self-monitoring transportation chart, helpful tips, fun visuals and a schedule of cycling workshops, events and activities.
A Celebrating Sustainability event:
• A wrap-up event for the program to celebrate participation and find out how many tonnes of green house gases were reduced
