Class 1 of 4: Intro to the parts and proper functioning of your bicycle, along with Bike Fit.
Wenches with Wrenches brings women together in a safe, non-competitive and friendly learning environment. The workshops are run by women for women because, many times, women are just more comfortable learning from other women.
Bring your bike for this class!
Bearings and Wheels.
3 hrs, $31.50, 5 participants max.
Bearing Adjustment: Review (from basic class) of how to identify need for adjustment. How to adjust, how to identify need for overhaul (but not how to). Demonstration and hands-on.
Spoke Replacement and Wheel Truing: Very basic introduction to minor wheel truing and how to replace a spoke (barring other damage). Demonstration only.
Chain wear check and how to identify need for replacement of drive train (chain/cogs/chainring/pulleys), sizing of chain, lubrication. Demonstration (with hands-on if time permits).
Ball Bearings and Wheeltruing Workshop is always 7pm to 10pm. See the Events Calendar for the upcoming schedule.
Note:
Due to the huge variety of bicycle components available, we may not have time to cover the specifics of every participant’s bike, but we’ll do our best. Suspension maintenance will not be covered.
Class 2 of 4: Flat Fix.
Wenches with Wrenches is an ongoing program of CBN volunteers hosting bicycle repair workshops run by and for women in downtown Toronto. The idea has been to make basic bicycle repair skills accessible to women, in the hope that participants will then share their knowledge and their confidence with others in the community.
Bring your bike for this class, and come prepared to get dirty!
